Who's Going?

About the Event

This month's event is completely dedicated to spreading awareness of the BLM mission and supporting black-owned businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic. It's our first-ever event to feature two separate opportunities where you can volunteer! Check out the details below. The volunteer with the most service hours awarded at the end of this event will receive a $15 Amazon gift card!

Event Option 1

Visit the page linked below to find a PDF filled with facts and information about Black History Month. One PDF holds two informational cards. Your job is to print these cards out and drop them off at the front door of houses in your neighborhood. Make sure you place the cards in a place that they won't be blown away by the wind. You may use light tape to place the cards on the actual door if you feel comfortable! This is meant to help spread awareness through the community. To receive hours, email rajdeepdas@connectvolunteering.org the number of Information Cards you donated.

1 hour for every 4 houses dropped off to. Link to find PDF: Black History Awareness Resources (connectvolunteering.org)

Event Option 2

Visit the page linked below to find a list of black-owned restaurants and businesses to support in the Greater Seattle Area.

You'll receive hours for visiting and supporting these businesses. Every $10 purchase will equate to 1 service hour. This means if you spend $45 dollars at the business, you'll be rewarded with 4 service hours! Make sure you keep your receipt, otherwise you will not receive any hours! To receive hours, email rajdeepdas@connectvolunteering.org a picture of your receipt from one of the listed black-owned businesses.

1 hour for every $10 purchase made. Link to find the list: Black History Awareness Resources (connectvolunteering.org)

The Gift Card Incentive

We want to encourage you all to take charge and support this cause with all your heart. In that spirit, we are giving away a $15 Amazon gift card for the volunteer that racks up the most service hours at this event. Remember, you can do both event options to rack up more hours. We know it's not a lot of money, but we hope it'll motivate some of you to do more! When you volunteer, we will keep track of your service hours and at the end of the event, we will email a winner and post you on our social media (if permission is granted). This means you must send us all proof of volunteering for us to know you participated. Send in the pictures and the receipts properly!
