PBS American Portrait Opportunity

PBS has approached Connect Volunteering and their volunteers for an opportunity to be on PBS American Portrait.

American Portrait is asking you to share your stories, experiences, and ideas. It's a chance to be heard and be seen. To give a glimpse into your own life, and get a peek into the worlds and perspectives of others. We all have a part to play in this collective project, exploring what it means to be American today. Make sure you let us know if you're interested (email or direct message on Instagram). Check out the link below to upload and add your stories!

If you're wondering what you should include in your short video, here's a quick guide.

  • There's no need to introduce yourself on video (your name will be in the submission title/description).

  • PBS wants to see how you're giving back! Try to show not tell. Pictures and video snippets are encouraged!

  • Some good prompts to choose for your video: "I stand for..." and "To me, work means..."

  • Simply just answer the prompt within 20 to 60 seconds. Don't overthink it!

After you upload your story, send the upload link to Connect Volunteering! Email us or direct message us on Instagram your upload link so that we can send it to PBS directly. That way they know which videos were affiliated with us.

When you contact us to let us know you're interested, we will give you some inside information to make your stories and videos stand out!
