NEW EVENT: Letters to our Heroes

Updated: Oct 5, 2020

COVID-19 has completely turned our world upside-down. The United States has been in a panic since early March and most people have decided to stay indoors which crippled many companies and businesses. As the world starts to return to a sense of normalcy, it's important to thank those who have made these last couple months smoother and easier for the public. The frontline workers who risk their wellbeing for their jobs to the public are truly heroes in every sense of the word. They are the heart and soul of the communities they serve and it's important that they get the thanks and recognition they deserve. Join Connect Volunteering in thanking them for their sacrifice and service to our community through our new event: Letters to our Heroes.

To participate in this event, all you have to do is write a letter to a frontline worker and give it to us. You may email a typed letter or come to the set location and drop-off your handwritten letters. These letters will then be delivered to the frontline workers they are intended for, whether it be a doctor or a grocery store worker. We encourage you to hand-write your letters as they will mean more to the recipient than a typed letter, it gives the letter a sense of personalness.

Here's a list of potential jobs you can write to:

  • Grocery store employees

  • Medical workers (doctors, nurses, etc.)

  • First responders (firefighters, paramedics, etc.)

  • Restaurant employees

You can gain service hours through this event as well! 2 hand-written letters or 4 typed letters amount to 1 hour of service. To gain hours, you must sign-up for our event with your email, that way we can contact you about your service hours. The sign-up is free and linked below. Remember though, we reward hard work and effort. If the letters we receive aren't made with time and effort then we will not award any hours. The frontline workers deserve wonderful thank-you letters from us, it's truly the least we can do. You do not have to write paragraphs, but please write from your heart. We included an example letter below for reference!

Happy volunteering everyone! Enjoy making these wonderful frontline workers smile.
