September is Mental Health Awareness month and here at Connect Volunteering we want to respect and support those who suffer from any mental illnesses, no matter how big or small. So many people quietly struggle with huge problems every day without getting the help or support they need. As a community, it's important to emphasize that mental health is something we all struggle with. It's not embarrassing or shameful, it's human nature. We should always support and pick our peers up in times of need, no matter what the issue may be. With September 10th being World Suicide Prevention Day all over the world, Connect Volunteering wants anyone reading this to know how special you are. How wonderful and kind you are. We want you to know how big of an impact you've made on so many different people's lives. We want you to know that we love you and are always here for you.
To make an impact on the community and directly reach out to troubled people, we are making a video that shows support and love to those suffering from mental health issues and we want you to be in it! Whether it be sharing your story or simply showing support, we want to include as many faces as possible and make sure those who watch this video feel loved and cared for. This video will be sent to numerous mental health organizations and hopefully shown to a large number of people struggling with mental health.
There are two ways you can be a part of our video. One is to come in person to one of two filming days we will hold. Here you can earn 2 service hours for participating in the video in person. The filming day details can be found below. The second way is to send in your story/message to us online. Please send all videos through email to management@connectvolunteering.org anywhere between 9/20 and 9/30. Through this, you can earn 1 service hour for participating.
Filming Day 1: 9/22/21 at 5 PM - 7 PM
Filming Day 2: 9/25/21 at 12 PM - 2 PM
Location: East Sammamish Park
If you are signing up to be filmed, please arrive within the given time. Otherwise, you may not be filmed. You must be signed up for our event to receive volunteer hours.
